The English translation of the first publication issued by the Institute of Solidarity Heritage, written by a well-known organizer and trade union activist of NSZZ ‘Solidarity’, which constitutes a valuable source of information on the events connected with the emergence and functioning of this movement, so important to Polish history.
The publication we present to readers is a study whose aim was to capture and describe the fundamental — production-related — aspect of the Gdańsk Shipyard’s operations, as well as the industrial function of its grounds, sites, and individual facilities.
“Alphabet of Solidarity” is primarily addressed to young readers who do not remember those events and usually know little about the history of Solidarity.
